Crooked Path Made Straight
“I will lead the blind by a way they did not know; I will guide them on paths they have not known. I will turn darkness to light in front of them and rough places into level ground. This is what I will do for them, and I will not abandon them.” Isaiah 42:16 CSB
“I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, And crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, And not forsake them.” Isaiah 42:16 NKJV
Right now, everything around and inside of you may be grim with darkness, and your path may be rough, with crooked twists and turns that seem like a mistake.
I can assure you, God sees you. Nothing happens outside of His approval. He will not abandon you.
We cannot lift depression or straighten our path by ourselves, for it is God who says “I will.” Not, “I can” or “You might be able to,” but a very trustworthy and sure promise of “I will.”
There is a transformation that happens when we don’t surrender to darkness, accepting our crooked path not as a detour, but the very place we are meant to be. Any flicker of hope you have in the darkness will become a bright torch as He - in His perfect timing - makes your darkness light and your path straight. That fiery hope is a force to be reckoned with when the enemy tries to take you back to the dark dungeons of your mind again. Unbelief, fear, bitterness, and anxiety will have a much harder time stealing our affection and devotion when we remind ourselves of God’s faithfulness.
If you are blindly walking on a path you have not known, remind yourself that God says “I will.” God will sustain you by mingling His all sufficient grace with your pain. Someday your darkness will be made light, and your crooked path will be made straight.
