That intrusive thought that no one knows about or would believe because you’re a Christian....God knows.
That same dark thought that hasn’t been taken captive and made obedient to Christ, but rather cherished....God knows.
That now habitual thought that started innocently as an intrusive thought that was out of your control but not addressed through prayer, confession, repentance, and Spirit-filled self control is now tempting you to act on it....God knows.
That stronghold in your mind that has captured you, tied you up, and seems impossible to be freed from....God knows.
That action you’ve taken that you know isn’t right....the withholding of food, the self harm, the plans for death that hide behind false comfort and beauty....God knows.
Wherever you are today in this journey, God knows and His love for you has not changed. But He also loves you too much to leave you where you are.
As a child of God, you are called to live free from the dominion of sin. Yes the struggle of sin will be present for the entirety of your life on earth, for the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, but you are an overcomer through Jesus. Struggle does not equal dominion.
While Proverbs 5 speaks to sexual morality, the verses are applicable to sin in general.
“For God sees everything you do and his eyes are wide open as he observes every single habit you have. Beware that your sins don’t overtake you and the scars of your own conscience become the ropes that tie you up. Those who choose wickedness die for lack of self-control, for their foolish ways lead them astray, carrying them away as hostages— kidnapped captives robbed of destiny.” (Proverbs 5:21-23 TPT)
No struggle in your heart and mind is concealed from the Creator who fashioned your innermost parts. Cry out to Him and ask Him to show you the way to the abundant life. You are not helpless or hopeless, and you most certainly are not alone.
“For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be rendered powerless so that we may no longer be enslaved to sin” (Romans 6:6).
I’m praying freedom over this community today!
